Texto de la carta

Whenever you roll the planar die, creatures you control get +1/+1 and gain haste until end of turn. Whenever chaos ensues, end the turn. (Exile all spells and abilities from the stack. The player whose turn it is discards down to their maximum hand size. Damage wears off, and "this turn" and "until end of turn" effects end.)

Cartas como The Drum, Mining Facility

The Drum, Mining Facility stands out within the array of mana-generating artifacts in Magic: The Gathering. This card has a resonance with the well-known Gilded Lotus due to its ability to produce three mana of any one color. Unlike The Drum, Mining Facility, Gilded Lotus doesn’t require tapping any creatures, offering players straightforward mana acceleration. However, The Drum, Mining Facility is unique as it allows players the strategic flexibility to tap any number of creatures as a cost.

Moreover, echoing The Drum, Mining Facility’s creature-tapping feature is Cryptolith Rite, which provides a less restrictive mana generation by allowing a tap of any creature for one mana of any color. Whilst Cryptolith Rite radiates versatility, it doesn’t come with the inherent toughness that The Drum, Mining Facility could potentially have as a standalone artifact. Peering at Springleaf Drum, a more economical counterpart, it too enables players to convert creature taps into mana, yet it limits this exchange to one mana per turn, showcasing The Drum, Mining Facility’s grander scale of mana potential.

In essence, while evaluating similar options, The Drum, Mining Facility remains an attractive choice in Magic: The Gathering for those seeking a synergetic blend of creature utility and mana production.

Card Pros

Card Advantage: The Drum, Mining Facility, offers a consistent draw engine for your deck. It can significantly contribute to maintaining a stronger hand throughout the match, giving you the edge over opponents by providing ongoing card advantage.

Resource Acceleration: This invaluable card is essential for ramp strategies, effectively contributing to your mana pool. It can pave the way for casting high-impact spells earlier than usual, propelling you toward victory with accelerating resources.

Instant Speed: The ability to activate The Drum, Mining Facility, at instant speed is a tactical advantage, allowing precise timing and flexibility. You can optimize your turn by waiting until the end of your opponent’s turn to utilize it, keeping your options open for reactive plays or surprising your opponent with unexpected maneuvers.

Card Cons

Discard Requirement: To get the most out of The Drum, Mining Facility card, players will often have to part with a card from their hand. This cost can put players at a disadvantage, particularly in game phases where each card’s value is magnified, and the player’s hand is their most treasured resource.

Specific Mana Cost: Activating the abilities of The Drum, Mining Facility demands a particular blend of mana. This necessity can be tricky as it requires a precise mana base, potentially complicating inclusion in multi-colored decks where mana optimization is essential for seamless play.

Comparatively High Mana Cost: While The Drum, Mining Facility offers enticing potential benefits, its activation cost is on the steeper side compared to other options within the game. Players might find themselves evaluating whether the mana investment could be better allocated elsewhere to achieve a more immediate or impactful board presence.

Reasons to Include The Drum, Mining Facility in Your Collection

Versatility: The Drum, Mining Facility is a card that slots effortlessly into multiple deck archetypes due to its flexible nature. Whether you’re running an aggressive artifact-based strategy or looking for key pieces in a control deck, this card can provide valuable mana acceleration and synergies.

Combo Potential: With its ability to untap a plethora of nonland permanents, The Drum, Mining Facility unlocks a vast array of combo possibilities, pairing superbly with cards that capitalize on artifact interactions or tap/untap mechanics.

Meta-Relevance: In environments where resource acceleration and efficiency are paramount, The Drum, Mining Facility establishes itself as a staple, potentially shifting the pace of the game and giving its controller a significant advantage against less responsive decks.

How to beat

The Drum, Mining Facility card introduces a unique dynamic to Magic: The Gathering gameplay, bridging the gap between resource acceleration and creature utility. To outmaneuver this card, a focus on disabling its ability to tap creatures for additional mana is key. Cards that restrict tapping or untapping, such as creatures with the Frost Titan’s ability, can be pivotal. Additionally, removal spells that target artifacts directly, like Abrade or Shatter, prove effective when timed right after your opponent invests in playing creatures to utilize The Drum’s ability.

Furthermore, player strategies that utilize creature control or “stax” effects, such as Thalia, Guardian of Thraben, can increase The Drum’s casting cost or the cost of creatures that would synergize with it. By limiting your opponent’s tempo and increasing their cost to play, The Drum’s utility is significantly lessened. Versatile removal such as Assassin’s Trophy also provides an answer to this utility artifact before its engine gets running. Interrupting the synergy between The Drum and the creature-heavy strategies it often supports is the optimal path to ensure this card doesn’t drum up trouble for your match.

2023-10-13 Any "at the beginning of the next end step" triggered abilities won't get the chance to trigger that turn because the end step is skipped. Those abilities will trigger at the beginning of the end step of the next turn.
2023-10-13 Ending the turn this way means the following things happen in order: 1) All spells and abilities on the stack are exiled. This includes spells and abilities that can't be countered. 2) If there are any attacking and blocking creatures, they're removed from combat. 3) State-based actions are checked.
