Flying Whenever you cast your first spell during each opponent's turn, create a 1/1 black Faerie Rogue creature token with flying. Whenever one or more Faeries you control deal combat damage to a player, goad target creature that player controls.

Card Pros

Card Advantage: Alela, Cunning Conqueror excels at giving players an edge by creating Faerie tokens whenever you cast an enchantment, artifact, or planeswalker card. This continuous stream of tokens can quickly add up, providing not only a formidable defense but also the potential to convert into an aggressive strategy by overwhelming opponents with multiple flying creatures.

Resource Acceleration: Alela doesn’t just excel at populating the board. Her ability to boost mana resources is subtle yet significant. Each artifact you control gains the added utility of contributing a bonus to your colored mana pool, reflecting her role as a powerful facilitator for artifact-heavy playstyles.

Instant Speed: One of Alela’s indirect strengths lies in how she interfaces with instant speed spells. While she herself is not an instant, the tokens she generates can instantly become relevant in the middle of combat or in response to an opponent’s actions. These Faerie tokens, in essence, can become surprise blockers or an unexpected source of damage, making Alela a figure of versatility and tactical depth on the battlefield.

Card Cons

Discard Requirement: Alela Cunning Conqueror requires a discard action in certain conditions, which may deplete a player’s hand and strategic options prematurely, especially in tight game scenarios where every card counts.

Specific Mana Cost: This card comes with an inherent constraint due to its specific mana cost involving more than one color. Players not running a deck that supports Esper colors (white, blue, and black) may find it challenging to harness Alela’s full potential without the proper mana base.

Comparatively High Mana Cost: While Alela Cunning Conqueror offers a suite of abilities that can dictate the pace of play, its mana cost is on the higher side when compared to other creatures that may provide similar board presence or effects earlier in the game, potentially putting players at a disadvantage in more aggressive and tempo-driven formats.

Reasons to Include Alela Cunning Conqueror in Your Collection

Versatility: Alela Cunning Conqueror is a powerhouse in any deck that leverages enchantments and artifacts. As a commander, she excels by turning these types of permanents into an army of flying Faerie tokens, bolstering your board presence with every cast.

Combo Potential: With Alela on the field, you can easily craft synergies that spiral into overwhelming advantages. Think of pairing her with cards that proliferate token generation or capitalize on sacrificing creatures for greater benefits. The possibilities for intricate combos are vast.

Meta-Relevance: In a game where artifacts and enchantments are ever-present, Alela holds her ground by providing consistent value. She is particularly useful when facing off against opponents who rely on non-creature spells, turning their strategies into fuel for your own victory.

How to beat Alela, Artful Provocateur

Alela, Artful Provocateur is a multifaceted legendary creature that can quickly take over the game in Magic: The Gathering. This flying, deathtouch, and lifelink commander excels at creating an army of flying tokens by merely casting artifacts or enchantments, making her a dominant force in commander decks.

To counter her, players should aim to manage the board with sweepers like Wrath of God to remove her token creatures. Spot removals such as Swords to Plowshares can take care of Alela directly, although it’s crucial to remember she may return if not dealt with properly. Additionally, since Alela benefits greatly from the number of enchantments and artifacts her controller owns, cards like Stony Silence or Kataki, War’s Wage can hinder an opponent’s strategy by limiting their artifact abilities, thus reducing the synergy and token production Alela relies on.

When facing a deck with Alela at the helm, prioritize controlling the pace of the game, keeping the board clear, and avoiding an overloaded battlefield with flying creatures. Efficiently timing removals and deploying cards that disrupt your opponent’s strategy will be key elements in claiming victory against Alela’s enchanting influence.

Her prowess isn’t limited to token generation; her subtle mana acceleration and instant-speed interactions offer tactical diversity. Still, challenges like her color-specific mana cost and higher mana requirement suggest a thoughtful deck construction. Cards like Alela, Cunning Conqueror

Alela, Cunning Conqueror blazes her own trail in the enchanting landscape of Magic: The Gathering. Her kinship lies with commanders like Sharuum the Hegemon, another artifact-loving powerhouse. Both beseech players to weave a strategy around artifacts and enchantments; yet, Alela’s allure is her ability to conjure an army of flying Faeries, rewarding each noncreature spell you cast with a token.

Peering into the realm of enchantment synergy, we find Estrid, the Masked. Estrid capitalizes on enchantments by untapping them, yet she stands apart from Alela who leans on token generation to fortify board presence. The envoy of wind, Alela, exudes dominance through an aerial offense each time you dabble in the arcane arts of artifacts and enchantments. Conversely, in the sphere of artifacts, Breya, Etherium Shaper comes to mind. With the knack for both creating and sacrificing artifacts for diverse effects, Breya offers a multifaceted toolkit, whilst Alela excels in raw token creation.

Contemplating these intriguing comparisons, Alela, Cunning Conqueror distinctly holds her ground within MTG, presenting enchanters and artificers a chance to command vast swarms and maneuver intricate spell interplays.
