Where to buy

If you're looking to purchase Sharae of Numbing Depths MTG card by a specific set like Wilds of Eldraine and Wilds of Eldraine Art Series, there are several reliable options to consider. One of the primary sources is your local game store, where you can often find booster packs, individual cards, and preconstructed decks from current and some past sets. They often offer the added benefit of a community where you can trade with other players.

For a broader inventory, particularly of older sets, online marketplaces like TCGPlayer, Card Kingdom and Card Market offer extensive selections and allow you to search for cards from specific sets. Larger e-commerce platforms like eBay and Amazon also have listings from various sellers, which can be a good place to look for sealed product and rare finds.

Additionally, Magic’s official site often has a store locator and retailer lists for finding Wizards of the Coast licensed products. Remember to check for authenticity and the condition of the cards when purchasing, especially from individual sellers on larger marketplaces.

Text of card

When Sharae of Numbing Depths enters the battlefield, tap target creature an opponent controls and put a stun counter on it. (If a permanent with a stun counter would become untapped, remove one from it instead.) Whenever you tap one or more untapped creatures your opponents control, draw a card. This ability triggers only once each turn.

Card Pros

Card Advantage: Sharae of Numbing Depths not only presents itself as a formidable creature but also offers a robust mechanism for card advantage. As it sends opposing permanents into the watery abyss, it opens the door for you to potentially draw multiple cards, keeping your hand full and options abundant.

Resource Acceleration: Sharae is a powerhouse in terms of resource acceleration. Its very presence on the board can deter opponents from casting spells, as each countered spell equates to a token that furthers your mana resources, helpfully streamlining your path to victory.

Instant Speed: The power of instant speed cannot be overstated with this card. Sharae equips you with the ability to disrupt enemy strategies at the most inconvenient times, forcing them to rethink their tactics and preserving your board state. The ability to spring surprises on your opponent at instant speed makes Sharae an unpredictable and dangerous threat.

Card Cons

Discard Requirement: Sharae of Numbing Depths expects a card discard to activate its key abilities. This condition can force players into making tough decisions, particularly in moments when hand size is crucial for maintaining board control or when card advantage plays a pivotal role in the late game.

Specific Mana Cost: Casting Sharae of Numbing Depths requires a precise mana alignment, making it less flexible for decks that aren’t tailored to support snow lands and their related mechanics. This mana specificity might constrain deck-building options or slow deck tempo if the necessary mana isn’t readily accessible.

Comparatively High Mana Cost: With an investment of both color-specific and generic mana points to bring Sharae into play, it weighs heavily on the curve. Alternative creatures or spells may provide more immediate impact or versatility for a similar, if not lower, mana investment, potentially relegating Sharae to a situational pick rather than a staple in its respective deck archetypes.

Reasons to Include in Your Collection

Versatility: Sharae of Numbing Depths offers flexibility in blue-focused control or combo decks. Its ability to transform non-creature spells into 5/5 creature tokens means it fits well in strategies that heavy on instants and sorceries.

Combo Potential: This card’s unique ability to animate spells can be exploited in numerous combos, especially in conjunction with cards that capitalize on having numerous creatures on the board or spells that return from the graveyard to be cast again.

Meta-Relevance: As the game landscape continues to evolve, having a card that can produce large creatures consistently can be crucial against a variety of opponent strategies. Sharae of Numbing Depths is well-positioned to create a significant board presence that adapts to an ever-changing meta.

How to beat

Sharae of Numbing Depths is a formidable force, typically seen in oceanic or Leviathan-themed decks in MTG. With her ability to emerge from the depths and render opposing creatures defenseless, overcoming her might seem daunting. To navigate these treacherous waters, consider employing removal spells that exile or cause sacrifices, bypassing her indestructibility. Board wipes like Damnation or Wrath of God, although potent, won’t suffice due to her resilience against destruction.

Strategic finesse comes into play when pitting your wits against Sharae. Cards that force opponents to sacrifice creatures, such as Diabolic Edict or Liliana’s Triumph, can be effective if Sharae is the lone creature on the battlefield. Alternatively, employing counterspells like Cancel or Mana Leak can prevent her from entering the battlefield altogether, ensuring that her numbing depths do not engulf your strategy. Transformative sideboard options might also be worth considering for games two and three of a match, equipping you with the tools needed to adjust your tactics and keep Sharae at bay.

Ultimately, a well-timed intervention can neutralize Sharae’s impact, preserving your chances of maintaining control of the game. By integrating these strategic elements, players can effectively dilute Sharae’s influence, allowing them to emerge victorious from the depths of competition.

BurnMana Recommendations

Striking a balance in MTG between powerful plays and strategic foresight is key. Sharae of Numbing Depths ties these elements together, offering both card advantage and unexpected twists at instant speed. Its capabilities in transforming spells into towering creatures makes it a unique addition to specialist blue decks. While managing its demands can be challenging, the rewards of incorporating Sharae into your deck are substantial, particularly in control or combo constructs. Each card has its counters, and understanding Sharae’s strengths and weaknesses ensures that you won’t be caught off guard. Dive deeper with us to unlock Sharae’s full potential in your gameplay.

Cards like Sharae of Numbing Depths

Sharae of Numbing Depths is a new challenger in the deep waters of creature cards in Magic the Gathering. When evaluating its sea monster kin, we look toward Lorthos, the Tidemaker. Both are hefty blue creatures with the power to dramatically control the battlefield. Lorthos allows players to tap eight permanents which can be a turning tide in game play. Unlike Lorthos, Sharae doesn’t have this form of direct board control, yet it compensates with its cost reduction ability for other sea monsters.

Considering Arixmethes, Slumbering Isle, another card that delves into similar aquatic themes, it serves a dual role by starting as a land and then awakening as a creature. It’s quite versatile but lacks the unique tribal synergy Sharae offers. Stormtide Leviathan also shares the underwater realm, creating a barrier with its islandwalk ability and restricting creatures to only flying and islandwalk attackers. Here, Sharae diverges, inviting an army of deep sea monstrosities to the fray at a discounted mana cost.

Ultimately, Sharae of Numbing Depths carves its niche within Magic the Gathering’s leviathans and serpents as a herald for these titans of the deep, providing strategic advantage for a themed deck revolving around the mightiest creatures the oceans have to offer.

Date Text
2023-09-01 Sharae of Numbing Depths's last ability will trigger only when an effect instructs you to tap one or more creatures your opponents control. It won't trigger if a spell or ability you control instructs an opponent to tap a creature they control. For example, if you control Tangle Wire and an opponent taps an untapped creature they control as part of the resolution of Tangle Wire's triggered ability, Sharae's ability won't trigger.
2023-09-01 You may target a creature that is already tapped with Sharae's first ability. If the target creature is already tapped as it resolves, you will still put a stun counter on it.
