Where to buy

If you're looking to purchase Ossification MTG card by a specific set like Phyrexia: All Will Be One and Phyrexia: All Will Be One, there are several reliable options to consider. One of the primary sources is your local game store, where you can often find booster packs, individual cards, and preconstructed decks from current and some past sets. They often offer the added benefit of a community where you can trade with other players.

For a broader inventory, particularly of older sets, online marketplaces like TCGPlayer, Card Kingdom and Card Market offer extensive selections and allow you to search for cards from specific sets. Larger e-commerce platforms like eBay and Amazon also have listings from various sellers, which can be a good place to look for sealed product and rare finds.

Text of card

Enchant basic land you control When Ossification enters the battlefield, exile target creature or planeswalker an opponent controls until Ossification leaves the battlefield.

Only Elesh Norn's most loyal servants are granted the honor of becoming part of her throne.

Card Pros

Card Advantage: Ossification provides a strategic upper hand by potentially turning a creature into a land. This not only disrupts an opponent’s gameplay but also tactically changes the board state in your favor while maintaining card parity.

Resource Acceleration: By converting an opposing creature into a land, you effectively accelerate your mana resources. This newly transformed land can contribute to casting high-cost spells quicker or activating formidable abilities sooner than you normally could.

Instant Speed: The versatility of casting Ossification at instant speed adds a layer of depth to your strategic planning. Deploy it when your opponent least expects it, using it either to save yourself from an overwhelming attack or strategically during their end step to conserve mana and keep your options open throughout your own turn.

Card Cons

Discard Requirement: In order to cast Ossification, a player must meet its discard criteria. This can sometimes be a hefty price, particularly for decks that want to maintain card advantage or have a strategy reliant on synergies between cards in hand.

Specific Mana Cost: Ossification has a specific mana cost that necessitates white mana. This requirement may potentially limit deck-building flexibility, as it may not fit as easily into multicolored decks or those that do not prioritize white mana sources.

Comparatively High Mana Cost: Ossification’s effectiveness must be weighed against its mana cost, which is substantial. This can often be prohibitive, especially in faster-paced games where efficiency and tempo are key to outpacing an opponent’s strategy.

Reasons to Include Ossification in Your Collection

Versatility: Ossification provides a unique approach to creature control, allowing for defensive strategies across various deck types. Its ability to neutralize threats makes it a flexible addition to control and midrange decks alike.

Combo Potential: This enchantment could play a key role in decks that aim to leverage the state of a creature being tapped or unable to attack. It can be a piece in a more complex puzzle, setting up devastating combos with cards that capitalize on those conditions.

Meta-Relevance: In a game where creature-heavy strategies often dominate, Ossification offers a reliable countermeasure. Its role in current meta can shift depending on prevalent deck types, proving it’s a dynamic card that can bolster your deck’s responsiveness to shifting trends.

How to beat

Ossification is a unique card within the depths of Magic: The Gathering, presenting an interesting challenge to opponents. Conjuring a vision where creatures turn to stone, this card effectively neutralizes foes by transforming them into Walls with four toughness and no power. As such, creatures afflicted by Ossification lose their ability to strike which can disrupt many strategies.

To counteract this predicament, swift removal spells are your ally. Cards like Disenchant or Naturalize bring salvation, erasing the enchantment and returning your creature to its former glory. Additionally, creatures with hexproof or shroud abilities stand strong against Ossification’s petrifying touch, as they are elusive to target. Embracing strategies that either rapidly deal with nonland permanents or deploy creatures that are difficult to target could provide the deck resilience you need.

Ultimately, Ossification is a card that demands attention in your game plan. By incorporating preventative and reactive measures, you ensure that your creatures remain agile and poised for victory, rather than succumbing to a stony fate on the battlefield.

Cards like Ossification

Ossification brings a unique angle to creature control in Magic: The Gathering. It reminds seasoned players of cards like Lignify. Lignify, too, neutralizes threats by turning formidable creatures into harmless Trees without abilities, but it does allow the creature to maintain its original toughness, potentially leaving a substantial blocker on the field.

Another counterpart worth mentioning is Darksteel Mutation. Although it also translates a creature into a less threatening form, it endows the creature with indestructibility, which can be a double-edged sword, depending on the board situation. Opposing Ossification’s ability to force a creature into vulnerability, Darksteel Mutation can inadvertently strengthen enemy lines by giving them an immortal blocker.

Summarizing the comparison, Ossification stands out for permanently transforming target creatures into vulnerable 0/1 statues without retaining any of their functionalities. This strategy can pivot the tides of a game, particularly when nullifying high-power creatures that are central to an opponent’s game plan. Therefore, while there are parallels to be drawn with other MTG cards, Ossification’s straightforward yet powerful effect secures its own niche in the realm of creature control.
