Where to buy

If you're looking to purchase Mondrak, Glory Dominus MTG card by a specific set like Phyrexia: All Will Be One Promos and Phyrexia: All Will Be One, there are several reliable options to consider. One of the primary sources is your local game store, where you can often find booster packs, individual cards, and preconstructed decks from current and some past sets. They often offer the added benefit of a community where you can trade with other players.

For a broader inventory, particularly of older sets, online marketplaces like TCGPlayer, Card Kingdom and Card Market offer extensive selections and allow you to search for cards from specific sets. Larger e-commerce platforms like eBay and Amazon also have listings from various sellers, which can be a good place to look for sealed product and rare finds.

Text of card

If one or more tokens would be created under your control, twice that many of those tokens are created instead. {W/P}{W/P}, Sacrifice two other artifacts and/or creatures: Put an indestructible counter on Mondrak, Glory Dominus. ({W/P} can be paid with either or 2 life.)

Card Pros

Card Advantage: Mondrak, Glory Dominus boasts a powerful ability to draw cards whenever it attacks or blocks, giving players consistent access to more options and overwhelming opponents with a stream of resources.

Resource Acceleration: As a formidable presence on the battlefield, not only does Mondrak synergize with creature-based strategies, but it also provides resource acceleration by potentially untapping all mana sources, allowing for massive plays far earlier than usual.

Instant Speed: While Mondrak itself is not an instant, it significantly enhances instant-speed spells by ensuring lands remain untapped after aggressive moves, therefore enabling reactionary plays even after committing to the board.

Card Cons

Discard Requirement: Mondrak, Glory Dominus demands you to discard another card in order to activate one of its pivotal abilities. In tight matches where every card in hand could swing the tides, this discard cost might prove to be a hefty price, potentially stripping you of crucial resources when you least afford it.

Specific Mana Cost: Emblazoned with a mana cost that asks for a variety of colors, integrating Mondrak into your deck requires a commitment to a multicolor mana base. For players who prefer mono-color decks or those who wish to maintain a streamlined mana curve, Mondrak may not seamlessly fit into every strategy.

Comparatively High Mana Cost: While Mondrak, Glory Dominus brings an impressive presence to the battlefield, its cost is on the higher end of the spectrum. In the fast-paced environment where lower-cost creatures are able to quickly impact the game, Mondrak may sit idle in your hand as you work towards summoning it to the field.

Reasons to Include in Your Collection

Versatility: Mondrak, Glory Dominus offers a broad spectrum of utility due to its multiple abilities that fit various deck archetypes. Whether you’re aiming to accelerate your mana or trigger big creature plays, this card can adapt to numerous strategies.

Combo Potential: With its ability to provide a cascade of creature spells at a reduced mana cost, Mondrak opens up a realm of combo possibilities. It synergizes with decks that thrive on casting multiple spells in a single turn, turning any game around with its powerful effect.

Meta-Relevance: In a game that’s constantly evolving, Mondrak, Glory Dominus holds its ground as a formidable contender. Its presence in a match can significantly influence the board, making it a valuable asset in a meta that favors dynamic plays and resilience against a wide range of threats.

How to beat

Mondrak, Glory Dominus presents as a formidable force in Magic: The Gathering, noted for its ability to alter the landscape of a match with its entrance and attack benefits. Resolving this card often shifts game dynamics in the controller’s favor, providing a mix of power and utility that can be challenging to counter.

Overcoming this colossal dragon demands strategic play. Removal spells that bypass indestructibility such as “Path to Exile” or “Terminus” are essential in your arsenal to effectively dispatch Mondrak. It’s also critical to disrupt the opponent’s mana base to delay Mondrak’s appearance on the battlefield or to utilize counter spells to prevent it from being played altogether. Additionally, cards that force opponents to sacrifice creatures can circumvent Mondrak’s protective abilities, clearing the way for a more balanced playfield.

Ultimately, dealing with Mondrak, Glory Dominus requires forethought and the inclusion of specific answers within your deck. Fast action and preemptive plays, alongside a keen awareness of your opponent’s strategy, will help ensure that this powerful MTG card doesn’t dominate the game.

Cards like Mondrak, Glory Dominus

Mondrak, Glory Dominus introduces a dynamic twist to creature spells in MTG, reminiscent of titans like Inferno Titan which also presents an immediate impact on the board upon casting. Whereas Inferno Titan allows for a split of three damage across multiple targets, Mondrak’s strength lies in its potential to summon numerous Dragon tokens, significantly altering the game’s state. Inferno Titan might afford more immediate board control, but Mondrak’s potential for exponential token generation sets a stage for an overwhelming presence if left unchecked.

Looming into a similar sphere, Utvara Hellkite is another dragon-themed card that thrives on creating Dragon tokens. While it requires an attack phase to trigger its token generation, as opposed to Mondrak’s entry effect, both cards share the exhilarating ability to quickly expand a player’s draconic legion. Mondrak, however, provides this army on a much swifter timeline, assuming other dragons are in play to catalyze its effect.

Given these aspects, Mondrak, Glory Dominus claims its rightful place in the hearts of dragon enthusiasts and strategists alike. It embodies a potentially game-ending threat that demands an immediate answer and shines as a beacon of power in creature spell strategies within MTG.

Date Text
2023-02-04 Everything that is specified by the effect creating the original token or tokens will also be true about the additional token or tokens created by Mondrak's replacement effect. For example, if an effect tells you to create a token "tapped and attacking," the additional tokens will also be tapped and attacking. Similarly, if an effect creates a token and puts counters on it (such as a Fractal token) the additional token will also get those counters.
