Cards like Fluros of Myra's Marvels

Fluros of Myra’s Marvels emerges as an intriguing option for Magic: The Gathering players seeking effective battlefield control. Its mechanics can be likened to other prominent cards such as Dungeon Geists, which also taps a creature and prevents it from untapping for as long as you control the Geists. Fluros offers a twist with its ability to target multiple creatures, given a high enough mana investment.

Comparatively, Frost Titan is another card that comes to mind. It allows you to tap a permanent upon entering the battlefield or attacking, which could also include lands and other non-creature cards. While Frost Titan covers a broader range, Fluros of Myra’s Marvels provides a potentially repeatable effect each turn. Latch Seeker is a noteworthy mention too, with unblockable prowess, yet it lacks the tapping utility that Fluros employs to command the battlefield.

Evaluating these alternatives, Fluros of Myra’s Marvels carves a niche for itself in MTG with the dynamic ability to consistently hamper multiple opponents’ creatures, showcasing its utility in decks centered around tempo and control.

Card Pros

Card Advantage: Fluros of Myra’s Marvels shines by providing card advantage through its ability to draw additional cards. This results in a richer hand and more strategic options as the game progresses.

Resource Acceleration: By offering resource acceleration, the card can significantly impact the pace of the game. It allows players to access more mana resources, potentially leading to earlier deployment of high-impact cards.

Instant Speed: The power of instant speed spells cannot be overstated. Fluros of Myra’s Marvels can be cast at the most opportune moments, making it an adaptable tool in any strategic repertoire, ready to disrupt opponent’s plans at a moment’s notice.

Card Cons

Discard Requirement: Fluros of Myra’s Marvels necessitates parting with another card from your hand to leverage its capabilities. This trade-off could potentially setback players, especially during moments when every card in hand is crucial for maintaining strategic advantage and board control.

Specific Mana Cost: The mana needed to cast Fluros of Myra’s Marvels is color intensive, necessitating a precise combination of mana types. This requirement may restrict its integration across diverse deck archetypes, potentially confining it to decks that can reliably produce the specific colors of mana.

Comparatively High Mana Cost: Considering the resource investment to get Fluros of Myra’s Marvels onto the battlefield, players might find the cost steep relative to other cards with similar effects. The mana expenditure needed could hinder tempo, particularly in fast-paced matches where efficiency is paramount.

Reasons to Include in Your Collection

Versatility: Fluros of Myra’s Marvels stands out as a multirole card, easily slipping into a range of decks. Its flexibility on the battlefield means it can enhance various strategies, whether you need an extra creature or a specific effect to turn the tides in your favor.

Combo Potential: The dynamic nature of Fluros of Myra’s Marvels allows for powerful synergies within combo decks. Its unique abilities can work as a linchpin for setting off a series of game-changing plays, making it a boon for players who revel in crafting intricate combos.

Meta-Relevance: With ever-shifting meta landscapes, Fluros of Myra’s Marvels remains a relevant choice for players seeking to stay competitive. Its adaptability lets it counter various prevalent deck archetypes, ensuring it remains a valuable asset in a player’s collection.

How to beat

Fluros of Myra’s Marvels can be quite a powerhouse in the right MTG deck, offering both protection and the potential for heavy damage over time. Its combination of flying and ward abilities make it a resilient creature on the battlefield. To effectively counter this card, consider using spells that don’t target it directly, thereby circumventing the ward cost. Board clear spells that don’t specifically target, such as “Wrath of God” or “Damnation,” come in handy to clear Fluros without having to pay the additional ward cost.

Another strategy involves employing cards that force your opponent to sacrifice creatures. Since these do not target, Fluros’s ward ability is useless against them. Spells like “Diabolic Edict” or “Liliana of the Veil’s” sacrifice effect are perfect examples of how to handle such elusive creatures. Additionally, you can utilize cards that change the base power and toughness of creatures, such as “Humility”, to diminish the threat without targeting it directly. In conclusion, while Fluros presents a challenge, smart deck building and strategic gameplay allow players to navigate around its powerful abilities and maintain control of the game.

Rules and information

The reference guide for Magic: The Gathering Fluros of Myra's Marvels card rulings provides official rulings, any errata issued, as well as a record of all the functional modifications that have occurred.

Date Text
2022-10-07 Even in an Un- game, you must choose 0 or a positive integer. This is a change from previous Un- rules.
2022-10-07 Fluros’s middle ability triggers only once if you cast a creature or Vehicle spell with power and toughness both equal to the chosen number.
2022-10-07 Fluros’s middle ability will overwrite any previous effects that set the target’s power and toughness (if any) to specific numbers. Effects that otherwise modify its power and toughness will still apply no matter when they took effect. The same is true for +1/+1 counters.
2022-10-07 If Fluros’s middle ability causes a Vehicle to become an artifact creature, it doesn’t count as “crewing” that Vehicle for any ability that would trigger off of a Vehicle becoming crewed. That Vehicle will become an X/X artifact creature, not whatever its printed power/toughness is.
