Text of card

When Ambassador Blorpityblorpboop enters the battlefield, you get {TK}{TK}{TK}, then you may put a sticker on a nonland permanent you own. At the beginning of each combat, you may have Ambassador Blorpityblorpboop's base power become equal to the total power of all stickers on permanents you control and its base toughness become equal to those stickers' total toughness.

Cards like Ambassador Blorpityblorpboop

Ambassador Blorpityblorpboop introduces a unique dynamic to the realm of creature spells within Magic: The Gathering. Bearing similarities to creatures like Shimmer Myr, which also provides a flash ability, Ambassador Blorpityblorpboop goes one step further by offering an additional quirky benefit upon entering the battlefield. Unlike Shimmer Myr, the Ambassador may not grant flash to other artifacts, but it compensates with its own brand of advantage.

Another card that comes into comparison is Quicksmith Genius, which can give you a card advantage but through a different avenue. While Quicksmith Genius requires an artifact to be present to trigger its ability, Ambassador Blorpityblorpboop offers its benefit upfront without needing another artifact. Moving towards control strategies, Vedalken Orrery emerges as a classic that allows casting almost any spells at flash speed, yet it doesn’t represent a creature on the board like our Ambassador does.

Through this comparative lens, Ambassador Blorpityblorpboop stands out among its peers by mixing immediate board presence with a special ability, aligning it closely with players who relish surprising their opponents with sudden, game-altering plays.

Card Pros

Card Advantage: Ambassador Blorpityblorpboop shines by creating opportunities to gain card advantage. With its unique ability to explore the depths of your deck, you steadily build a hand that can outmatch your opponent’s resources.

Resource Acceleration: This card is a boon for decks needing a quick ramp-up in resources. It adeptly accelerates your mana availability, allowing you to deploy threats and answers ahead of the curve.

Instant Speed: The power of acting at instant speed cannot be overstated. Ambassador Blorpityblorpboop can be wielded as a reactionary tool, keeping your strategy flexible while you navigate the complex tides of a match.

Card Cons

Discard Requirement: Ambassador Blorpityblorpboop demands a card to be discarded when casting, which can be counterproductive for your hand, especially when you’re in need of options.

Specific Mana Cost: This character has a specific color alignment in its mana cost, making it a challenging fit for decks that are not tailored to those mana types.

Comparatively High Mana Cost: With a relatively steep mana cost, it sits on the higher end of the curve, which might not align with faster, more aggressive strategies that require lower-cost creatures and spells.

Reasons to Include in Your Collection

Versatility: Ambassador Blorpityblorpboop is a malleable asset in a variety of deck archetypes. Its unique abilities make it a formidable card that can adapt to different playing styles and board states, ensuring its utility regardless of the ever-changing landscape of a game.

Combo Potential: With Ambassador Blorpityblorpboop, players can explore new combo avenues and synergize with other creatures and spells. Its interactions may unlock powerful chains of plays that can turn the tide of a match, cementing its place in innovative and creative deck builds.

Meta-Relevance: Given the card’s potential to affect board dynamics significantly, it has the capacity to stay relevant within various meta environments. Its presence in a collection means that you are equipped to tweak and optimize your decks to combat an array of common strategies found in the current meta-game.

How to beat

Ambassador Blorpityblorpboop is one of those Magic: The Gathering cards that demands strategic gameplay to overcome. With its unique abilities to influence the board, developing a counter-strategy is essential for maintaining control. One effective tactic is to utilize removal spells that can dispatch creatures before their effects trigger. Cards such as Path to Exile and Go for the Throat allow players to rapidly address such threats.

Hand disruption can also be a formidable tool against Ambassador Blorpityblorpboop, stripping this card from the opponent’s grasp before it has a chance to hit the table. Keeping the board clear with sweepers like Damnation or Wrath of God prevents the situation from escalating and keeps you in the lead.

Establishing a strong board presence with counterspells like Counterspell or Mana Leak right from the onset can give you a competitive edge as well. This preemptive measure ensures that the Ambassador doesn’t disrupt the flow of your strategy. Balancing these elements and remaining one step ahead of the card’s potent abilities can be the difference between victory or defeat when facing Ambassador Blorpityblorpboop.

Date Text
2022-10-07 Although Ambassador Blorpityblorpboop’s last ability considers the power and toughness stickers of permanents you control, the card itself is not considered to be stickered unless there’s actually a sticker on it.
2022-10-07 Ambassador Blorpityblorpboop counts all power and toughness stickers on all permanents you control, even if those power and toughness stickers don’t currently have any effect (possibly because you placed another power and toughness sticker on the same creature).
2022-10-07 Ambassador Blorpityblorpboop has received a minor update to clarify its function. Specifically, its ability causes its base power to match the total power of stickers you control, and its base toughness to match the total toughness of stickers you control. The updated wording appears above.
2022-10-07 Count only the powers and toughnesses of the stickers on permanents you control, not the actual powers and toughnesses of those permanents. For example, if a creature you control has a 4/4 sticker on it, but it also has three +1/+1 counters on it, it’s a 7/7 creature, but Ambassador Blorpityblorpboop’s base power and toughness would become 4/4.
2022-10-07 If Ambassador Blorpityblorpboop has a power and toughness sticker on it, that sticker is included when calculating for the last ability.
2022-10-07 It doesn’t matter if the stickers are on creatures. Any power and toughness stickers on noncreature permanents you control will also count.
2022-10-07 The base power and toughness change doesn’t end at end of turn; it lasts indefinitely, until Ambassador Blorpityblorpboop either leaves the battlefield or its base power and toughness changes again from another effect (for example, a power and toughness sticker being placed on it or its ability triggering again).
