Texto de la carta

Exile target creature card from your graveyard. Until the end of your next turn, you may cast that card.

Card Pros

Card Advantage: Tlincalli Hunter provides players with the potential for consistent card advantage as it can repeatedly take out opposing creatures, thereby reducing the resources available to the opponent while preserving your own board presence.

Resource Acceleration: When Tlincalli Hunter successfully defeats another creature, its power to give you treasure tokens or the land ramp which is instrumental in propelling your mana resources significantly, enabling larger and more impactful plays much earlier in the game.

Instant Speed: The fact that Tlincalli Hunter can exert its influence at instant speed adds an element of surprise and tactical depth. It keeps opponents on their toes, always having to consider the possibility of this creature entering the battlefield during their most critical moments, ultimately disrupting their strategy.

Card Cons

Discard Requirement: Tlincalli Hunter’s conditional ability can force players to part with valuable cards in hand, which can hinder strategy and card advantage.

Specific Mana Cost: This creature’s casting cost includes both red and green mana, restricting deck-building options and potentially causing color fixing issues in multicolored decks.

Comparatively High Mana Cost: With a cast cost that might be considered steep for its stats and abilities, Tlincalli Hunter faces stiff competition from lower-cost creatures that bring similar or better value to the battlefield.

Reasons to Include Tlincalli Hunter in Your Collection

Versatility: Tlincalli Hunter offers adaptability across a range of decks, with its creature type and abilities being useful both in aggressive strategies and those favoring creature synergy.

Combo Potential: This card can seamlessly integrate into combos that leverage damage triggers or require a reliable creature on the battlefield to execute intricate plays.

Meta-Relevance: Given the current gaming environment, its ability to deal direct damage to creatures can disrupt opposing board setups, making it a relevant addition to your arsenal against prevalent creature-based tactics.

How to beat

Tlincalli Hunter stands out in MTG due to its hard-hitting combat trick capabilities. With the prowess to become unblockable, it can consistently deal damage to opponents and bypass their creatures. To overcome this agile adversary, the key is to remove it before it becomes a threat during the combat phase. Effective strategies include using instant-speed removal spells that can target Tlincalli Hunter while it’s still susceptible. Cards like Fatal Push or Path to Exile excel at dealing with such creatures efficiently and at a low cost.

Furthermore, it’s essential to control the board early on, preventing your opponent from setting up a favorable state to exploit Tlincalli Hunter’s abilities. Counterspells like Cancel or Mana Leak can also be valuable, especially if you can counter Tlincalli Hunter as it is being cast. Lastly, maintaining a board presence with creatures that have reach or any form of blocking advantage can deter the Hunter from attacking, indirectly rendering its unblockability less threatening.

Amidst these strategies, the general rule is to respond swiftly and prevent the Tlincalli Hunter from being leveraged in combat. Controlled, well-timed plays are crucial, ensuring that this stealthy creature doesn’t become a prevailing force on the battlefield.

Cartas como Tlincalli Hunter // Retrieve Prey

Delving into the tribal synergies within Magic: The Gathering, Tlincalli Hunter stands out in the world of creature cards that thrive on desert themes. Akin to cards like Sand Strangler, which benefits from having a Desert card in the graveyard to deal damage to a creature, Tlincalli Hunter also leverages the Desert card interaction by being able to tap a creature. Despite both cards feeding off the same mechanic, Tlincalli Hunter offers a more tactical advantage by neutralizing potential blockers or attackers without permanently removing them from the board.

Looking further, Ahn-Crop Crasher echoes a similarity in its exert ability to prevent blocking, yet it does so by exerting itself, which restricts its use every other turn. Tlincalli Hunter’s ability, by contrast, causes no such limitations on its own combat capabilities. The Hunter also finds its parallels in a card like Earthshaker Khenra, which temporarily incapacitates a creature from blocking upon entering the battlefield, but Tlincalli Hunter can reuse its ability multiple times, leveraging long-term board control.

By comparing these cards, we see Tlincalli Hunter’s value in repeated board influence, a trait that deeply enriches gameplay within its specific niche, providing strategies that capitalize on the rich lore and strategic depth Magic: The Gathering is known for.

Fecha Texto
2022-06-10 An adventurer card is a permanent card in every zone except the stack, as well as while on the stack if not cast as an Adventure. Ignore its alternative characteristics in those cases. For example, while it’s in your graveyard, Altar of Bhaal is an artifact card whose mana value is 2.
2022-06-10 An effect may refer to a card, spell, or permanent that “has an Adventure.” This refers to a card, spell, or permanent that has an adventurer card’s set of alternative characteristics, even if they’re not being used and even if that card was never cast as an Adventure.
2022-06-10 Casting a card as an Adventure isn’t casting it for an alternative cost. Effects that allow you to cast a spell for an alternative cost or without paying its mana cost may allow you to apply those to the Adventure.
2022-06-10 If a spell is cast as an Adventure, its controller exiles it instead of putting it into its owner’s graveyard as it resolves. For as long as it remains exiled, that player may cast it as a permanent spell. If an Adventure spell leaves the stack in any way other than resolving (most likely by being countered or by failing to resolve because its targets have all become illegal), that card won’t be exiled and the spell’s controller won’t be able to cast it as a permanent later.
2022-06-10 If an adventurer card ends up in exile for any other reason than by exiling itself while resolving, it won’t give you permission to cast it as a permanent spell.
2022-06-10 If an effect copies an Adventure spell, that copy is exiled as it resolves. It ceases to exist as a state-based action; it’s not possible to cast the copy from exile.
2022-06-10 If an effect instructs you to choose a card name, you may choose the alternative Adventure name. Consider only the alternative characteristics to determine whether that is an appropriate name to choose.
2022-06-10 If an object becomes a copy of an object that has an Adventure, the copy also has an Adventure. If it changes zones, it will either cease to exist (if it’s a token) or cease to be a copy (if it’s a nontoken permanent), and so you won’t be able to cast it as an Adventure.
2022-06-10 If you cast an adventurer card as an Adventure, use only its alternative characteristics to determine whether it’s legal to cast that spell.
2022-06-10 Tlincalli Hunter's ability doesn't give you permission to cast any spells from exile. You'll need to find another way to do that, such as Retrieve Prey.
2022-06-10 When casting a spell as an Adventure, use the alternative characteristics and ignore all of the card’s normal characteristics. The spell’s color, mana cost, mana value, and so on are determined by only those alternative characteristics. If the spell leaves the stack, it immediately resumes using its normal characteristics.
2022-06-10 You must pay all costs and follow all normal timing rules when casting a creature card from exile with Retrieve Prey. Normally, this means you may only cast that card during a main phase of your turn while the stack is empty.
2022-06-10 You must still follow any relevant timing rules for the permanent spell you cast from exile. Normally, you’ll be able to cast it only during your main phase while the stack is empty.
