Texto de la carta

Toque mortal.

Card Pros

Card Advantage: While Heir of the Wilds doesn’t directly allow you to draw additional cards, its prowess in combat can lead to favorable trades that deplete your opponent’s resources. This ferocious creature can dominate the early game board, forcing your opponent to make difficult decisions, indirectly leading to card advantage through board control.

Resource Acceleration: Heir of the Wilds may not produce mana or treasure tokens, but it can accelerate your board presence efficiently. Its 2/2 stats for two mana make it a cost-effective play, helping you establish or maintain a strong pace in the game without falling behind on your mana curve.

Instant Speed: Although Heir of the Wilds isn’t an instant, its deathtouch ability functions as a robust defense mechanism that can be a deterrent at all times. Opponents must carefully consider their actions knowing that engaging in combat could result in the loss of their valued creatures, effectively giving Heir of the Wilds an omnipresent threat akin to the flexibility of instants.

Card Cons

Specific Mana Cost: Heir of the Wilds demands a precise combination of mana to cast, specifically one green and one generic mana. This requirement can restrict deck-building options and may not fit seamlessly into multi-color decks that aren’t centered around green mana.

Comparatively High Mana Cost: While a casting cost of two mana might not seem prohibitive, in decks where speed is of the essence or in formats that favor low-cost creatures, Heir of the Wilds might not make the cut when compared to other one or zero mana creatures that offer immediate benefits or fit into more aggressive strategies.

Discard Requirement: Although Heir of the Wilds does not have a discard requirement itself, it is worth considering that the card’s potential is maximized when used in conjunction with cards that fill your graveyard. This means it could indirectly contribute to a strategic disadvantage if your hand becomes depleted to fuel such synergies, thereby limiting your options on the battlefield.

Reasons to Include in Your Collection

Versatility: Heir of the Wilds is a dynamic creature card that can seamlessly fit into a wide array of green decks. Its deathtouch ability allows it to effectively deter attacks or take down larger creatures in combat, making this card a valuable addition to both aggressive and defensive strategies.

Combo Potential: This card’s ferocious ability, which gives it a +1/+1 boost whenever you control a creature with power 4 or greater, opens up synergistic possibilities with numerous other cards that benefit from, or contribute to, a high-power creature presence on the board.

Meta-Relevance: In a game state where creature interactions are pivotal, Heir of the Wilds stands out as a meta-relevant card. Its ability to pose a constant on-board threat can shape how your opponent plays, tipping combat situations in your favor and meshing well with current gameplay dynamics.

How to beat

Heir of the Wilds is a staple in creature-based decks within the Magic: The Gathering universe. Known for its formidable deathtouch ability, it can deter opponents from attacking, as it can destroy any creature it touches, regardless of size. This makes Heir of the Wilds a card that demands a strategic approach to overcome.

Combat tricks can turn the tide against Heir of the Wilds, as they can temporarily boost your creatures’ strength or provide them with protection from a key color, thereby neutralizing the threat of deathtouch. Removal spells that don’t involve combat, such as Path to Exile or Doom Blade, can also effectively dispatch this obstinate adversary from the battlefield without your creatures having to engage it directly.

Moreover, evasion tactics such as flying or unblockable creatures provide a way to circumvent Heir of the Wilds. This way, you maintain pressure on your opponent while avoiding the risk of losing valuable creatures. In the end, a combination of direct removal, strategic combat, and evasion will help you claim victory over the challenge posed by Heir of the Wilds.

Cartas como Heredero de las tierras salvajes

Heir of the Wilds holds its own within the collection of two-drop creatures in Magic: The Gathering. A parallel can be drawn with Gnarled Scarhide, which also costs two mana to cast. Yet, Heir of the Wilds differentiates itself with deathtouch, allowing it to become a formidable defender or attacker against much larger creatures. Contrast this with Gnarled Scarhide that cannot block at all.

Another similar creature to consider is Sylvan Advocate. While Sylvan Advocate shares the same cost and can grow stronger in the later game stages, Heir of the Wilds offers immediate board impact with its deathtouch feature, potentially altering opponents’ combat strategies from the onset. Moreover, the Heir’s ferocious ability to get a bonus during attacks if you control a creature with power 4 or greater is a tactical advantage that Sylvan Advocate lacks.

When evaluating the utility and adaptability of two-drop creatures in MTG, Heir of the Wilds distinctly shines with its combat versatility and immediate board presence. This distinguishes it among its counterparts for players seeking a robust early-game play.

Fecha Texto
2014-09-20 Heir of the Wilds has a triggered ferocious ability with an intervening “if” clause. That ability will check if you control a creature with power 4 or greater whenever Heir of the Wilds attacks. If you don’t at that time, the ability won’t trigger at all. If it triggers, the ability will also check if you control a creature with power 4 or greater as it resolves. If you don’t at that time, the ability won’t do anything. Note that the creature with power 4 or greater you control as the ability triggers doesn’t necessarily have to be the same one you control as the ability resolves.
