Texto de la carta

Menace Command Protocols — Other artifact creatures you control get +1/+0 and have menace. Unearth (: Return this card from your graveyard to the battlefield. It gains haste. Exile it at the beginning of the next end step or if it would leave the battlefield. Unearth only as a sorcery.)

Card Pros

Card Advantage: The Skorpekh Lord brings significant strategic benefits by potentially removing key threats from the battlefield. Every time it declares an attack, its menacing presence can lead to card advantage by forcing your opponent to sacrifice creatures they would otherwise utilize for their own game plan. This ability can disrupt your opponent’s board and tip the scales in your favor.

Resource Acceleration: This MTG card can serve as a form of resource acceleration. Although it doesn’t produce mana or tokens directly, its ability to consistently eliminate the opponent’s creatures can indirectly accelerate your resource advantage. By keeping the board clear, you’re often able to attack with less fear of reprisal, enabling more efficient use of your mana and attacks each turn.

Instant Speed: Instants are a crucial part of MTG allowing for play on an opponent’s turn, and while Skorpekh Lord doesn’t operate at instant speed, it encourages a deck that leverages instant speed spells. Having such a formidable creature on the board means your opponent must always consider the potential for instant-speed interaction, possibly creating opportunities for you to capitalize on their hesitation or misplays.

Card Cons

Discard Requirement: The Skorpekh Lord requires strategic hand management, as it might force players to discard valuable cards. This can backfire in turns where maintaining card advantage is crucial.

Specific Mana Cost: Its demanding color identity makes it less flexible, often confining it to mono-color or dual-color decks centered around its mana requirements, reducing its overall utility in a wide range of decks.

Comparatively High Mana Cost: With the Skorpekh Lord’s cost being considerable, players could find themselves at a tempo disadvantage, especially when other creatures at lower mana costs might provide immediate board presence or other beneficial effects sooner.

Reasons to Include in Your Collection

Versatility: Skorpekh Lord can be a formidable presence in a variety of decks. Its ability to both deal damage and serve as a robust creature makes it a valuable asset for strategies that aim to dominate the board.

Combo Potential: This potent commander synergizes well with other cards that capitalize on -1/-1 counters or benefit from having a sturdy, high-impact creature to support aggressive tactics or defensive setups.

Meta-Relevance: In a game state that favors aggressive and creature-focused decks, Skorpekh Lord can establish a strong mid-game presence. Its role in disrupting opponent strategies and maintaining board control makes it well-suited for the current meta.

How to beat

The Skorpekh Lord presents a formidable challenge on the battlefield with its synergies and powerful abilities, especially in the MTG Warhammer 40k Commander series. To overcome this mechanical menace, players must strategically undermine its strengths. Removal spells that bypass indestructibility are highly effective, as Skorpekh Lord lacks hexproof or shroud. Consider using targeted exile cards such as Path to Exile or instant board wipes like Cyclonic Rift to neutralize it before its abilities overwhelm you.

Another tactic involves limiting the Skorpekh Lord’s ability triggers by controlling the flow of combat. Preventing it from engaging in battles through cards like Ensnaring Bridge or by using pacifism effects can render it a mere bystander. Don’t forget about countermagic – a well-timed Counterspell or Negate can halt the Skorpekh Lord in its tracks before it even becomes a threat on the board.

Stripping opponents of their resources to leverage the Skorpekh Lord can also tilt the game in your favor. Hand disruption and forcing sacrifices with cards like Thoughtseize or Liliana of the Veil can dismantle the protection and setup that Skorpekh Lord needs to thrive. By attacking from multiple angles, you can dismantle the threat and keep the upper hand in your matches.

Cartas como Skorpekh Lord

In exploring the versatility and power of creatures in MTG, Skorpekh Lord comes into focus as a formidable option for fans of aggressive and synergistic strategies. The card bears a resemblance in part to the well-known Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite. Both are renowned for their ability to dramatically sway the battlefield in your favor upon entering. While Elesh Norn buffs your creatures and weakens your opponent’s, Skorpekh Lord’s might lies in granting additional attack potential and resilience to your Necron army.

Another similar unit is Herald of the Host, a creature known for bestowing vigilance and making your army wider with each combat phase. While the Herald continually expands your forces, Skorpekh Lord ensures that your existing creatures become deadlier and more difficult to dispatch. The distinction lies in Skorpekh Lord’s supportive role in a more narrow but powerful offense.

Evaluating the available options in MTG for strengthening creature-driven decks, Skorpekh Lord earns its place by seamlessly integrating into Necron-themed decks and empowering already potent strategies, mirroring the force-multiplying qualities found in other prominent MTG creatures.

Fecha Texto
2022-10-07 Activating a permanent card's unearth ability isn’t the same as casting it as a spell. The unearth ability is put on the stack, but the card is not. Spells and abilities that interact with activated abilities (such as Stifle) will interact with unearth, but spells and abilities that interact with spells (such as Cancel) will not.
2022-10-07 At the beginning of the end step, a permanent returned to the battlefield with unearth is exiled. This is a delayed triggered ability, and it can be countered by effects that counter triggered abilities. If the ability is countered, the permanent will stay on the battlefield and the delayed trigger won’t trigger again. However, the replacement effect will still exile it if it eventually leaves the battlefield.
2022-10-07 If a permanent returned to the battlefield by an unearth ability would leave it for any reason, it’s exiled instead—unless the spell or ability that's causing it to leave the battlefield is actually trying to exile it. In that case, the spell or ability succeeds at exiling the permanent. If the spell or ability later returns the card to the battlefield, it will return as a new object with no relation to its previous existence. The unearth effect will no longer apply to it.
2022-10-07 If you activate a card’s unearth ability but that card is removed from your graveyard before the ability resolves, that unearth ability will resolve and do nothing.
2022-10-07 Unearth grants haste to the permanent that’s returned to the battlefield. However, neither of the “exile” abilities is granted to that permanent. If that creature loses all its abilities, it will still be exiled at the beginning of the end step, and if it would leave the battlefield, it is still exiled instead.
