Texto de la carta

Flying : Target creature gains indestructible until end of turn.

Card Pros

Card Advantage: Deathless Angel’s ability to grant indestructibility to your other creatures can indirectly lead to card advantage. When your board is protected from mass removal, you maintain your creature presence, potentially outlasting an opponent who may be forced to use more resources to deal with your threats.

Resource Acceleration: While Deathless Angel itself doesn’t accelerate resources in the form of mana, it is a significant presence that can alter the state of the game. Deploying it might change how your opponent uses their removal spells, indirectly affecting the resources they must dedicate to handle the angel effectively.

Instant Speed: Deathless Angel’s ability to grant indestructibility at instant speed is a powerful tool. It can be activated in response to removal spells or combat tricks, keeping your key creatures safe at crucial moments. This reactive capability forces opponents to play around the potential of an indestructible-making response, altering the pace and strategy of the game.

Card Cons

Discard Requirement: While Deathless Angel does not have a direct discard requirement, it’s essential to consider that any cards protecting it from removal or countering spells targeting it can dwindle your hand, leaving you with fewer options.

Specific Mana Cost: Deathless Angel requires a specific mana alignment, two white and four colorless, which may not be easily splashed into multicolored decks, thereby limiting its use primarily to mono-white or two-color decks where white is dominant.

Comparatively High Mana Cost: With a total mana cost of six, Deathless Angel comes at a point in the game where players are expected to make significant impacts on the board. There are other creatures and cards with lower mana costs that can provide immediate value or board presence.

Reasons to Include in Your Collection

Versatility: Deathless Angel’s ability to grant indestructibility to other creatures makes it a flexible addition to any deck that prioritizes the protection of key creatures, from Commander to casual play.

Combo Potential: Pairing Deathless Angel with cards that allow you to untap it multiple times can give you the ability to shield several creatures, setting up potential game-winning defenses or synergies with death-triggers.

Meta-Relevance: In environments where board wipes and removal spells are prevalent, Deathless Angel can ensure your crucial creatures survive the sweep, giving you a resilient edge in the match.

How to beat

Confronting the challenge of Deathless Angel in a game can prompt strategic shifts, especially considering its ability to grant indestructibility. This potent creature can turn the tide by safeguarding key creatures from lethal damage or board wipes. Nevertheless, there are practical methods to counteract the angel’s protective powers. Utilizing spells that force a player to sacrifice creatures can sidestep indestructibility, as this doesn’t deal damage or destroy—it simply changes zones. Furthermore, exile effects offer a definitive answer by removing the angel from the battlefield entirely, negating any possibility of it shielding other creatures.

Effects that reduce a creature’s toughness to zero present another route, as this doesn’t technically destroy the creature either; they die as a state-based action. In a similar vein, enchantments that prevent activated abilities from being used can nullify Deathless Angel’s primary function, effectively neutralizing its impact on the game. By incorporating these elements into your deck, you can prepare for and decisively handle encounters with Deathless Angel, ensuring your strategy remains unhampered by your opponent’s endeavors to create an impenetrable defense.

Cartas como Ángel inmortal

Deathless Angel occupies a unique position among defensive creatures in Magic: The Gathering. It has a kinship with cards like Baneslayer Angel, sharing the angel creature type and a profile that makes both powerful additions to any deck that values life-point defense and aerial dominance. Though Baneslayer Angel comes with noteworthy lifelink and protection from demons and dragons, Deathless Angel stands out with its ability to grant indestructible to other creatures. This can be a game-changer during complex battlefield scenarios.

Another card that echoes the defensive theme is Avacyn, Angel of Hope, ensuring all permanents you control gain indestructible. Avacyn has a broader protective effect than Deathless Angel, which has a more selective, but cheaper activation cost for its ability. Linvala, Keeper of Silence is also part of this protective angelic cohort. While not offering indestructible, it prevents opponent’s creatures from utilizing their abilities, which can stifle your opponent’s strategy and complement Deathless Angel’s defensive tactics.

Taking everything into account, Deathless Angel provides a specific advantage in protecting key creatures at critical moments, setting it apart from its counterparts while making it an essential card for players cultivating a strategy around resilience and tactical creature preservation.

Fecha Texto
2013-07-01 Lethal damage and effects that say “destroy” won’t cause a creature with indestructible to be put into the graveyard. However, a creature with indestructible can be put into the graveyard for a number of reasons. The most likely reasons are if it’s sacrificed, if it’s legendary and another legendary creature with the same name is controlled by the same player, or if its toughness is 0 or less.
