Texto de la carta

Vuela. Profetizar {1}{U}.

Card Pros

Card Advantage: Augury Raven carries the foretell mechanic, letting you stash the card for a reduced-cost future play, potentially smoothing out your draws and providing a surprise blocker or attacker later on.

Resource Acceleration: This bird doesn’t directly lead to resource acceleration but effectively costs two mana if you split its casting cost across two turns thanks to foretell, thus aligning well with a strategic curve.

Instant Speed: Although not castable at instant speed, foretelling Augury Raven during your turn sets you up to deploy threats or answer opponent’s plays with untapped mana, keeping your options flexible.

Card Cons

Discard Requirement: Playing Augury Raven using its Foretell ability forces you to exile it from your hand face down, briefly reducing your hand size and potentially revealing strategic information to your opponent.

Specific Mana Cost: To cast Augury Raven normally requires two islands which demands a solid blue mana base, potentially limiting the card’s flexibility in multicolor decks.

Comparatively High Mana Cost: With a casting cost of four mana including two blue, this creature’s cost is significant when compared to other cards with similar stats or effects, making it less attractive in decks where efficiency is key.

Reasons to Include in Your Collection

Versatility: Augury Raven offers flexibility to blue-themed decks with its flying ability and decent power. Its foretell mechanic allows for strategic planning, casting it at a reduced cost at a later turn for surprise defenses or offenses.

Combo Potential: The bird synergizes well with cards that care about casting from exile or triggering prowess-like abilities. Its evasion and the ability to set up future plays makes it a strong enabler in various combo strategies.

Meta-Relevance: In an environment where the skies are less contested, Augury Raven can be a consistent threat. Its capability to pressure opponents while being cast at a convenient time makes it a valuable contender in certain competitive settings.

How to beat

Augury Raven is a forceful flyer in the Magic: The Gathering landscape, presenting players with a formidable aerial threat. Packed with efficient power for its mana cost, this card can quickly escalate the pressure in a game. Offering both a solid body and the advantage of flying, it poses a challenge to ground-based strategies and demands a prompt answer from opposing players.

Dealing with this card often requires precision. Utilizing spells that can unconditionally remove creatures, such as Doom Blade or Murder, can be effective methods to clear the way. If you’re up against a deck that boasts tempo and utilizes this bird to its fullest, ensure your deck is equipped with instant speed interaction. Cards that can alter the combat dynamics, like Frost Breath or casting a creature with Flash functionality during the opponent’s turn, can disrupt their momentum, buying you invaluable time.

As with any game piece in Magic: The Gathering, understanding the card’s strengths and weaknesses is vital. Utilizing spells that can bypass the Raven’s flying trait or deploying creatures with reach can neutralize the threat. Augury Raven excels in the skies, but with thoughtful deck construction and timely responses, overcoming this aerial adversary is within any skilled player’s grasp.

Cartas como Cuervo del augurio

Augury Raven stands out in the realm of flying creatures within the Magic: The Gathering universe. This particular card bears resemblence to other four-mana avian creatures, such as Pilfering Hawk, yet with its foretell ability, it allows for earlier and unexpected plays for a lesser cost. It sails above the competition with a strong power and toughness configuration for its mana value.

Another card in this flight is the Watcher of the Spheres. This feathery friend also makes waves by reducing the cost of flying creatures. Although it doesn’t boast the same power levels as Augury Raven, its utility in a flying-focused deck can’t be overlooked. Meanwhile, Jubilant Skybonder offers protection to your winged warriors and, like Augury Raven, it prioritizes a strong offense over diverse abilities.

Taking a broader view, it’s clear that Augury Raven offers a balanced mix of cost-efficiency and board presence. This makes it a solid choice for players who value tempo and the element of surprise in their aerial assault. Its place in MTG’s extensive roster of creatures is well-earned, with capabilities that make it a formidable presence in the skies.

Reglas e información

La guía de referencia para las reglas de las cartas Cuervo del augurio de Magic: The Gathering proporciona las reglas oficiales, las erratas emitidas, así como un registro de todas las modificaciones funcionales que se han producido.

Fecha Texto
2021-02-05 Because exiling a card with foretell from your hand is a special action, you can do so any time you have priority during your turn, including in response to spells and abilities. Once you announce you’re taking the action, no other player can respond by trying to remove the card from your hand.
2021-02-05 Casting a foretold card from exile follows the timing rules for that card. If you foretell an instant card, you can cast it as soon as the next player’s turn. In most cases, if you foretell a card that isn’t an instant (or doesn’t have flash), you’ll have to wait until your next turn to cast it.
2021-02-05 If you’re casting a foretold card from exile for its foretell cost, you can’t choose to cast it for any other alternative costs. You can, however, pay additional costs, such as kicker costs. If the card has any mandatory additional costs, those must be paid to cast the spell.
