Texto de la carta

Crea dos fichas de criatura Ave azules 1/1 con la habilidad de volar. Juega un turno adicional después de este. Exilia la Epifanía de Alrund. Profetizar {4}{U}{U}.

Card Pros

Card Advantage: Alrund’s Epiphany provides a unique opportunity for players to gain a significant edge over opponents by providing an extra turn to cast spells, draw cards, and advance their position on the board. The strategic depth this card adds can often be the turning point in a match, showcasing its ability to sway the course of a game.

Resource Acceleration: The additional turn granted by Alrund’s Epiphany can be seen as a form of resource acceleration. It’s a chance to untap all of your lands and use them again, effectively ramping up your mana resources for that turn, which could allow you to cast high-impact spells sooner than normally possible.

Instant Speed: While Alrund’s Epiphany is a sorcery, the foretell mechanic allows players to set it aside earlier in the match and then cast it at a slightly reduced cost at the right strategic moment. This element of surprise, akin to the benefits of instant-speed interactions, can catch opponents off-guard and set the stage for a game-winning play.

Card Cons

Discard Requirement: As a player holds Alrund’s Epiphany, they must consider the potential setback from the card’s foretell ability. In particular, the action to foretell necessitates placing the card face down in exile as an initial setup cost, requiring you to effectively remove it from your hand temporarily. This strategic move can sometimes backfire if opponents disrupt your game plan before you get the chance to cast the card for its foretold cost.

Specific Mana Cost: Alrund’s Epiphany has a demanding mana cost, needing two blue mana in addition to four others. This specificity can be restrictive, often necessitating a commitment to a heavy blue mana base or a focus on a deck that can reliably produce such a mana combination. This might exclude the card from more diverse or color-flexible deck builds.

Comparatively High Mana Cost: With a regular casting cost of seven mana, Alrund’s Epiphany is a significant investment. For the powerful effect of taking an extra turn and creating two 1/1 flying Bird creature tokens, that cost is not without its drawbacks. It is relatively high in comparison to other cards capable of swinging the game state, which could be more mana-efficient or offer additional flexibility.

Reasons to Include in Your Collection

Versatility: Alrund’s Epiphany stands out as a flexible card, easily finding its place in control or midrange decks. It can dramatically swing a game by both advancing your board state and providing an opportunity to orchestrate powerful future plays.

Combo Potential: The extra turn and Bird creature tokens this card provides can be a pivotal setup for various combos, enabling players to capitalize on untapped resources and unanticipated moves that can lead to a match-clinching sequence.

Meta-Relevance: Given the card’s impact in shaping games, its presence is notable in the current meta. It can effectively counter strategies that rely on speed by offering a chance to outpace opponents with an additional turn, making it a strong contender in various competitive formats.

How to beat

Alrund’s Epiphany has made quite an impact in the landscape of MTG, offering players an extra turn to gain the upper hand. While the card can be a game-changer, there are strategies to counteract this powerful play. Disruption is key – thoughtfully playing counterspells such as Negate or Mystical Dispute can negate the extra turn before it even begins. Additionally, keeping pressure on the opponent’s life total can force them to use the card defensively, losing its potential to set up game-winning combos.

Hand disruption spells like Thoughtseize or Duress can remove Alrund’s Epiphany from the opponent’s grip before they have the chance to cast it. Meanwhile, cards that limit spellcasting, such as Teferi, Time Raveler, restrict the time-warping effect from ever taking place. Remember, being proactive and maintaining a full board presence forces opponents to deal with your threats instead of advancing their extra turn plans, effectively nullifying the impact of Alrund’s Epiphany when it finally resolves.

In essence, with preemptive actions and smart countermoves, even a card as formidable as Alrund’s Epiphany can be overcome, keeping the flow of the game in your favor.

Cartas como Epifanía de Alrund

Alrund’s Epiphany has earned its reputation amongst sorcery spells in MTG, attracting attention for its time-warping abilities. When looking at counterparts, Temporal Manipulation rings a bell, also granting an extra turn upon casting. What makes Alrund’s Epiphany stand out is its foretell mechanic, allowing for a surprise play at a reduced cost and the added bonus of creating two 1/1 bird creature tokens – a feature that Temporal Manipulation lacks.

Another spell worth comparing is Time Warp, which is simple and straightforward in giving players an extra turn. While Time Warp doesn’t come with tokens or foretell, its consistency and lower cost make it a staple in decks focused on taking additional turns. Capture of Jingzhou is similar to Time Warp, sharing the same mana cost and effect. The scarcity and collector appeal of Capture of Jingzhou, however, place it in a different league, often out of reach for many players’ decks.

Comparing these cards, Alrund’s Epiphany takes a special seat for players who enjoy strategically planning their next move with foretell and love the added value of bird tokens, making it a versatile option for control decks seeking to capitalize on time and tide in MTG.

Fecha Texto
2021-02-05 Because exiling a card with foretell from your hand is a special action, you can do so any time you have priority during your turn, including in response to spells and abilities. Once you announce you’re taking the action, no other player can respond by trying to remove the card from your hand.
2021-02-05 Casting a foretold card from exile follows the timing rules for that card. If you foretell an instant card, you can cast it as soon as the next player’s turn. In most cases, if you foretell a card that isn’t an instant (or doesn’t have flash), you’ll have to wait until your next turn to cast it.
2021-02-05 If you’re casting a foretold card from exile for its foretell cost, you can’t choose to cast it for any other alternative costs. You can, however, pay additional costs, such as kicker costs. If the card has any mandatory additional costs, those must be paid to cast the spell.
