¡Despierta tu ira!".

Card Pros

Card Advantage: Marisi Breaker of the Coil enhances card advantage by forcing opponents to commit their defenders during combat, potentially opening up their board to future plays. Additionally, by provoking other players to attack each other, Marisi ensures a steady flow of card utility by disrupting opponent strategies.

Resource Acceleration: Marisi’s unique ability to goad all creatures that your opponents control promotes a faster-paced game, indirectly speeding up resource depletion for your adversaries while preserving your own. With every swing forced by Marisi, you accelerate towards your win conditions as opponents’ resources are strained.

Instant Speed: While Marisi himself does not operate at instant speed, the strategic edge gained by forcing immediate combat decisions from your opponents can be compared to the reaction-based nature of instant speed plays. This tactic can lead to misplays or poorly calculated attacks on your opponents’ parts, to your benefit.

Card Cons

Discard Requirement: Playing Marisi Breaker of the Coil necessitates specific strategies to mitigate the risk of having to discard other valuable cards from your hand. This can be particularly challenging when your hand is already sparse, or when every card is pivotal to your planned maneuvers.

Specific Mana Cost: Marisi’s casting cost of 1 red, 1 green, and 1 white mana in addition to another mana can be restrictive. This multicolor demand means that he is best suited for decks with a firm base in Naya colors, potentially limiting his inclusion in more diverse or color-flexible deck builds.

Comparatively High Mana Cost: With four mana needed to summon Marisi to the battlefield, some players may find his cost on the higher side, particularly when considering that other commanders or creatures could provide similar benefits for less investment. This can be a deterrent when aiming to establish board presence or maintain tempo in the early game.

Reasons to Include in Your Collection

Versatility: Marisi Breaker of the Coil offers flexible deck-building options as it slots into Naya-colored strategies and works well with creature-based or combat-focused decks. Its ability to force opponents to attack each turn can disrupt various game plans, making it a dynamic addition to any collection.

Combo Potential: This commander pairs excellently with cards that capitalize on combat phases or penalize opponents for attacking, such as “Ghostly Prison” or “Gisela, Blade of Goldnight”. Crafting a deck around Marisi can lead to powerful and unexpected synergies that take your opponents by surprise.

Meta-Relevance: In a meta where control decks reign supreme, Marisi can provide a strategic advantage by negating certain tactics like preventing creatures from attacking. Its ability to grant your creatures evasion through the goad mechanic ensures that your offensive strategy is always a threat and helps maintain pressure on the battlefield.

How to Beat Marisi, Breaker of the Coil

Marisi, Breaker of the Coil is a unique commander in MTG known for turning multiplayer games upside down with its ability to force opponents to attack with their creatures. This can disrupt opponents’ strategies, leveraging the chaos to your advantage. To effectively counter Marisi, control and removal spells are your best allies. Cards like Path to Exile or Murderous Rider can remove Marisi from the battlefield before its effect becomes a problem. Additionally, political strategy is key. Setting up alliances can help ensure Marisi doesn’t target you, shifting the focus elsewhere.

Board wipes are another tool against Marisi, with Supreme Verdict and Damnation being two solid choices that can clear the board of creatures, including Marisi, without allowing for responses due to their uncounterability and black immunity. Making sure you have the right mix of spot removal and board wipes will give you the versatility to handle Marisi whenever it makes an appearance. Remember, timing and strategic planning are crucial when playing against a deck led by Marisi, Breaker of the Coil.

Cartas como Marisi, el Aniquilador de la Madeja

Marisi, Breaker of the Coil offers a unique blend of disruptive and aggressive abilities in the landscape of MTG’s multicolor commanders. A close comparison might be made with Gahiji, Honored One, another commander that incentivizes attacks, but instead of forcing opponents to attack each combat, Gahiji rewards players with bonus power for attacking opponents other than you. Both encourage multiplayer conflicts but through different tactical advantages.

Then there’s Edric, Spymaster of Trest which, like Marisi, manipulates the combat steps of the game. Edric incentivizes opponents to attack each other by rewarding them with card draw, while Marisi forces the issue directly via its ‘goad’ ability, influencing the game’s dynamic more forcibly. Additionally, Edric offers a lower mana investment compared to Marisi’s diverse color requirements, presenting a strategic choice for deck builders.

Through this lens, it’s evident that while there are other commanders that shape the battlefields in their own ways, Marisi stands out with a multifaceted control over combat, making it a compelling choice for players seeking to dictate the pace and targets of their opponents’ attacks.

Fecha Texto
2019-08-23 Attacking with a goaded creature doesn’t cause it to stop being goaded. If there is an additional combat phase that turn, or if another player gains control of that creature before it stops being goaded, it must attack again if able and continue to follow any restrictions.
2019-08-23 Creatures that enter the battlefield after Marisi’s second ability resolves won’t be goaded.
2019-08-23 If a creature you control has been goaded by multiple opponents, it must attack one of your opponents who hasn’t goaded it, as that fulfills the maximum number of goad requirements. If a creature you control has been goaded by each of your opponents, you choose which opponent it attacks.
2019-08-23 If a goaded creature can’t attack for any reason (such as being tapped or having come under that player’s control that turn), then it doesn’t attack. If there’s a cost associated with having it attack, its controller isn’t forced to pay that cost, so it doesn’t have to attack in that case either.
2019-08-23 If an effect allows or instructs an opponent to cast a spell during a combat phase, they can’t do so. Marisi’s restriction takes precedence over that permission.
2019-08-23 If the creature doesn’t meet any of the above exceptions and can attack, it must attack a player other than the controller of the ability that goaded it if able. It the creature can’t attack any of those players but could otherwise attack, it must attack an opposing planeswalker (controlled by any opponent) or the player who goaded it.
2019-08-23 In a multiplayer game, if you leave the game after Marisi’s second ability resolves but before your next turn begins, its effect lasts until your next turn would have begun. It neither expires immediately nor lasts indefinitely.
2019-08-23 Opponents can still activate abilities during combat.
2019-08-23 The goaded creatures remain goaded even if Marisi leaves the battlefield before your next turn.
