Texto da carta

{S}{S}: Trol Glaciodérmico recebe +2/+0 e ganha indestrutível até o final do turno. Vire-o. (Dano e efeitos que dizem "destrua" não o destroem. {S} pode ser pago com um mana de uma fonte da neve.)

A maior arma de um trol é sua capacidade de surgir inesperadamente em meio à paisagem.

Card Pros

Card Advantage: While Icehide Troll itself doesn’t directly draw cards, its powerful abilities make it a consistent and resilient threat on the battlefield. The ability to become indestructible for a small investment can keep the Troll in play, essentially saving cards in your hand that might otherwise be spent on less durable creatures.

Resource Acceleration: Icehide Troll demands that you have snow mana available which naturally encourages a deck-build utilizing snow lands. Snow lands often come with their own advantages and can contribute to resource acceleration when combined with other cards designed to leverage snow synergies.

Instant Speed: Icehide Troll can be made indestructible at instant speed, giving you the flexibility to protect it during your opponent’s turn. This can be a significant advantage, allowing you to safely use your mana on your own turn for advancing your board, knowing you can still safeguard your Troll against surprise removal spells.

Card Cons

Discard Requirement: Icehide Troll demands a snow land to activate its ability, which can be a blocker in constructing a versatile deck, similar to discarding when you can’t afford to forfeit resources.

Specific Mana Cost: The activation cost for its defensive ability requires specifically snow mana, limiting its compatibility and requiring a deck built around snow lands.

Comparatively High Mana Cost: While Icehide Troll’s mana cost isn’t exorbitant, allocating three mana for a 2/3 creature may be inefficient compared to other creatures of similar or lower cost with greater impact.

Reasons to Include Icehide Troll in Your Collection

Versatility: Icehide Troll can be a valuable asset in decks that focus on snow mechanics. Its ability to become indestructible makes it a reliable defender in multiple scenarios, which is beneficial for control and midrange strategies.

Combo Potential: In a deck that generates a lot of snow mana, Icehide Troll can repeatedly use its indestructible ability. This pairs well with cards that care about creatures surviving damage or being targeted by abilities.

Meta-Relevance: Given its robust defense against damage-based removal, Icehide Troll is an excellent choice if aggressive red decks are prevalent. It can stand strong, sustaining your board presence and pressuring your opponent to find alternative removal solutions.

How to beat Icehide Troll

Icehide Troll presents a unique challenge on the battlefield due to its resilience and the ability to gain indestructible. To overcome this frosty foe, players must think beyond conventional removal spells. Strategies include managing your opponent’s snow mana availability to prevent the activation of the Troll’s indestructible ability. Additionally, leveraging effects that don’t destroy, such as exile or bounce spells, can bypass the creature’s defenses effectively. It’s crucial to disrupt your opponent’s board state, inhibit their mana sources, or use cards that can alter the Troll’s characteristics, rendering the indestructible ability irrelevant.

Forcing the Troll to block unfavorable matchups or utilizing combat tricks can also lead to its downfall. Cards that can reduce the Troll’s toughness to zero, or that dictate the flow of combat, can take the creature out of the equation without triggering its indestructible ability. Overall, smart resource management, flexibility in combat, and the right spell selection are keys to besting Icehide Troll in a match.

Icehide Troll finds its place within the sturdy ranks of cold-themed creatures in Magic: The Gathering. Most notably, it draws similarities with creatures like Boreal Centaur, another snow creature that uses snow mana to gain an advantageous ability. While Icehide Troll requires two snow mana to obtain indestructibility until end of turn, Boreal Centaur uses a single snow mana to boast an increase in power.

Exploring through the frost, Frost Walker presents as an alternative, characterized by its fragility when targeted but distinctively strong with a power of 4 for just two mana. This contrasts the Troll’s resilience but at a less aggressive stat line. Conversely, the Icehide Golem stands out with sheer power provided by its snow supertype, becoming a steady 2/2 attacker for only one snow mana, showcasing a different aspect of deployable snow permanents

After careful comparison, Icehide Troll emerges as a versatile player on the battlefield in MTG decks designed around snow mechanics. Its capability to become indestructible offers a defensive edge over others, carving a unique strategic position among its wintry kin.

Regras e informações

O guia de referência para regras de cartas de Magic: The Gathering Trol Glaciodérmico fornece decisões oficiais, quaisquer erratas emitidas, bem como um registro de todas as modificações funcionais que ocorreram.

Data Texto
2021-02-05 Snow is a supertype, not a card type. It has no rules meaning or function by itself, but spells and abilities may refer to it.
2021-02-05 Snow isn’t a type of mana. If an effect says you may spend mana as though it were any type, you can’t pay for {S} using mana that wasn’t produced by a snow source.
2021-02-05 Some cards have additional effects for each {S} spent to cast them. You can cast these spells even if you don’t spend any snow mana to cast them; their additional effects simply won’t do anything.
2021-02-05 The Kaldheim set doesn’t have any cards with mana costs that include {S}, but some previous sets do. If an effect says such a spell costs less to cast, that reduction doesn’t apply to any {S} costs. This is also true for activated abilities that include {S} in their activation costs and effects that reduce those costs.
2021-02-05 The {S} symbol is a generic mana symbol. It represents a cost that can be paid by one mana that was produced by a snow source. That mana can be any color or colorless.
2021-02-05 You can activate Icehide Troll’s last ability even if it’s already tapped.
