Card Pros

Card Advantage: Parcel Myr serves as a handy tool for gaining card advantage. Once it’s on the field, it enables you to dig through your deck more efficiently, by filtering unnecessary cards and ensuring you find the resources you need to edge out your opponent.

Resource Acceleration: As a utility creature, Parcel Myr’s ability to tap for mana can significantly bolster your mana resources, providing an acceleration that is essential for casting more powerful spells earlier in the game. This can be a game-changer, especially in formats where speed and efficiency are crucial.

Instant Speed: Although Parcel Myr itself is not an instant, its mana ability can be used at instant speed, making it a flexible asset during your gameplay. This instantaneity allows you to adapt to the unfolding game, potentially enabling instant-speed tricks or leaving open the possibility of casting disruptive spells during your opponent’s turn.

Card Cons

Discard Requirement: While the Parcel Myr provides mana flexibility, it necessitates a sacrifice of another card from your hand. This discard condition can leave players at a resource disadvantage, especially if their hand size is already diminished or if they’re holding onto key strategy cards they don’t want to lose.

Specific Mana Cost: Parcel Myr requires a precise blend of mana to cast—two generic mana coupled with one from your Phyrexian mana pool. This mana cost could present a hurdle in multicolored decks where Phyrexian mana may not be readily available or in mono-color decks that don’t generate it.

Comparatively High Mana Cost: Though it provides mana fixing, the Parcel Myr comes with a mana cost that some players may find steep for the effect it grants. For a three-mana investment, there are alternative mana dorks or accelerants that might provide mana production at a lower cost, potentially speeding up your game tempo.

Reasons to Include in Your Collection

Versatility: Parcel Myr can be a useful addition across various deck types, giving players the flexibility of mana fixing, which is crucial in enabling multicolored decks to operate smoothly.

Combo Potential: This card offers synergy with strategies that capitalize on artifact recycling or ones that require sacrificing artifacts for value, enhancing a deck’s engine.

Meta-Relevance: As the game’s landscape shifts and the demand for efficient mana accelerators rises, Parcel Myr’s role in providing an extra mana source can be a game-changer, allowing you to stay ahead in various matchups.

How to beat

Parcel Myr is a unique artifact creature card that presents a distinct challenge in MTG. Known for its flexibility within artifact-based strategies, this nimble Myr offers both mana ramp and card selection. To gain the upper hand against Parcel Myr, focus on disrupting its synergies. Timing is key; if you can remove it before its tap ability is used, you reduce your opponent’s ability to sculpt their hand and ramp up their resources. Cards with instant-speed removal or those that prevent the tapping of creatures can be crucial here. Additionally, cards that restrict the use of artifact abilities, like Stony Silence or Collector Ouphe, can entirely neutralize Parcel Myr’s advantages on the battlefield.

An effective strategy against Parcel Myr also includes applying pressure on the opponent’s mana base. Land destruction or denial can impair their ability to utilize Parcel Myr’s mana-generating ability and hamper their game plan. In essence, successful mitigation of Parcel Myr involves swift and strategic responses to its presence, neutralizing its tactical edge before it can significantly impact the match.

BurnMana Recommendations

Parcel Myr emerges as an intriguing component in your MTG arsenal, blending mana ramp with strategic filtering. As you ponder incorporating this versatile automaton into your rig, consider its potential to unlock new strategies and bolster your resource game. Cards like Parcel Myr

Parcel Myr is an intriguing piece of the vast artifact creature lineup in Magic: The Gathering. In its sphere, it finds kinship with cards like Gold Myr and Silver Myr, both of which are focused on mana generation. Parcel Myr’s defining trait is the ability to tap for a single green mana, a helpful utility that can be pivotal in early game ramping strategies. Gold Myr offers a similar utility but provides access to white mana instead, while Silver Myr leans into blue mana. What sets Parcel Myr apart is its green mana alignment, which is often crucial for decks that rely heavily on creature plays and land acceleration.

Leaden Myr and Iron Myr are also part of the Myr family and mirror this functional design, though they offer black and red mana respectively. This symmetry within the Myr clan allows players to tailor their mana base according to their deck’s color requirements. However, the simplicity and efficiency of Parcel Myr make it a fan favorite for green-centric decks, bridging the gap between casting higher cost creatures or spells, and building towards powerful late-game board states.

Ultimately, Parcel Myr’s role as a mana dork positions it as a standard yet invaluable tool, especially in decks that demand a consistent green mana source for spells and creature deployment.

DateText
2021-06-18 Even though it is a Clue, Parcel Myr is not (normally) a token, and therefore isn't “created” when it enters the battlefield. Abilities that care about creating a Clue token, such as that of Academy Manufactor, will do nothing as Parcel Myr is put onto the battlefield. If you create a token that's a copy of Parcel Myr on the battlefield, such abilities will notice. However, if you copy Parcel Myr while it's a spell on the stack, the copy resolving will become a token, but that token is not “created,” so those abilities won't notice.
2021-06-18 You can't sacrifice Parcel Myr to activate its own ability and also to activate another ability that requires sacrificing a Clue (or any artifact) as a cost, such as that of Lonis, Cryptozoologist.
