Text of card

Remove each creature you control from the game. Return those creatures to play under their owners' control at end of turn.

"I watched its blade swing through me, but I was hollow, empty. I saw its face contort in rage but could not hear it snarl." —Klattic, Boros legionnaire

Card Pros

Card Advantage: Ghostway Mtg Card can be a significant advantage in a game. When played correctly, it can save your entire field from threats causing them to phase out. Then, the creature cards return at the end of the turn where the enter-the-battlefield effects are trigged, which potentially provides more cards.

Resource Acceleration: Ghostway Mtg Card doesn’t directly accelerate your resources, but it indirectly boosts tempo and advantage by saving your creatures from potential loss. The result is a sustained army that remains on the battlefield, reducing the need to cast more creatures and thereby conserving mana resources.

Instant Speed: Ghostway Mtg Card is an instant, and that provides an element of surprise. This surprise factor allows you to play this card whenever you need, potentially during your opponent’s turn, to save your creatures or activate their abilities, elevating the in-game tactical advantage.

Card Cons

Discard Requirement: With Ghostway, while it doesn’t require the discarding of cards, the evacuation of your own board could lead to loss of control or critical defenses.

Specific Mana Cost: It carries a cost of two generic and one white mana, which means your deck must contain enough white mana-producing cards to keep its activation consistent.

Comparatively High Mana Cost: Ghostway’s three mana cost might not sound high, but considering it’s an instant that only gives immediate effect without providing future advantage, it might be a pricey option compared to others with similar effects. However, small advantages like saving your creatures from a lethal situation make this card worth the price for some players.

Reasons to Include Ghostway Mtg Card in Your Collection

Versatility: Ghostway offers valuable benefits for any white-focused deck seeking protection from harm. Its ability to blink all creatures allows a safe escape from imminent threats, making this card perfect even for multi-color deck formations.

Combo Potential: The card’s exile and return to battlefield mechanism can trigger Enter the Battlefield effects, creating a myriad of potential combos. Paired with creatures with powerful triggered abilities, Ghostway can transform the game landscape in your favor.

Meta-Relevance: Ghostway holds a significant place in control or flicker strategies. In an environment where removal spells or board wipes reign supreme, having a sneaky instant ready to protect your creatures from being swept away can be a significant advantage for your game strategy.

How to beat

Ghostway is a unique card in Magic: The Gathering realm that surely demands specialized tactics. This intriguing spell can protect an entire team of creatures from almost any disaster by temporarily phasing them out of existence. Essentially, Ghostway exiles each creature you control, only to return them back to the battlefield at the end of turn.

However, it’s not impossible to outsmart. A viable counteraction could be Counterspell cards. For instance, using Negate or Dovin’s Veto that can nullify non-creature spells before they are cast. Additionally, cards like Torpor Orb that prevent creatures from having their abilities triggered can be effective against Ghostway’s saving grace mechanics as it mostly relies on ‘enter the battlefield’ abilities.

Last but not least, timing is crucial. Casting the right disruption spell before Ghostway’s resolution or immediately after the creatures return can tilt the tide in your favor. After all, the center of Magic: The Gathering is the strategic depth it offers and overcoming challenges like Ghostway is just another facet of this depth.

Cards like Ghostway

Ghostway is a captivating card within the realm of blink-and-exile spells in Magic: The Gathering. It stands shoulder-to-shoulder with cards like Eerie Interlude, which also shuffles creatures off and onto the battlefield. While both create a significant impact on gameplay, Ghostway includes all creatures in its web, setting it apart from its contemporaries.

Another card that shares aspects with Ghostway is Flicker of Fate. It also encompasses the blink mechanic, yet it targets a single creature. However, it’s budget-friendly, costing only two mana, but lacks the broad brush power that Ghostway brandishes with its Druidic magic.

In the same corridor, we find Teferi’s Protection. Much like Ghostway, it keeps your army away from harm. While it’s more expensive, it offers complete phases of invulnerability. It’s an intriguing contrast, with one offering temporary exile and the other, indestructible protection.

Overall, when evaluating Ghostway against comparable alternatives, the card holds a formidable position in the pantheon of tricks within Magic: The Gathering, owing to its remarkable adaptability and tactical potency.
