Card Pros

Card Advantage: Conviction MTG card bestows upon the controlled creature a boost, bringing it a step ahead in the combat. A well-timed Conviction can turn the tides in your favor by providing your creature with an extra power and toughness.

Resource Acceleration: Not just boosting the creature, Conviction allows you to return it back to your hand by spending a minimal amount of white mana. This acts as a source of resource acceleration, providing continuous access to this aura. Deploy, return, re-deploy – the level of gameplay flexibility it offers is significant.

Instant Speed: Although Conviction is not an instant, its special ability can be activated at instant speed. This means you can use its return effect during any phase of the game, allowing versatility in play without tying up your resources. The potential it presents for players’ strategic planning creates an exciting gameplay environment.

Card Cons

Discard Requirement: Conviction MTG card does not possess a discard requirement, however, it does have a card bounce mechanic which requires you to return it to your hand. This could limit your tactical possibilities and hinder your game progress in certain instances, particularly if you’re strategizing around permanency.

Specific Mana Cost: Conviction has a specific mana cost which includes one white Mana. This particular color requirement could restrict its usability only to decks that support white Mana, thereby diminishing its versatility amongst various player builds and strategies.

Comparatively High Mana Cost: Priced at two Mana (one of which must be white), Conviction might be considered steep by some, especially given its relatively straightforward effect. In comparison to the wide array of MTG cards that offer more dynamic gameplay features, Conviction’s two Mana cost could be viewed as high for the value it offers.

Reasons to Include Conviction in Your Collection

Versatility: Conviction fits comfortably in a variety of decks, especially those harnessing the power of its ability to bounce back to your hand, providing flexibility and durability in game strategy.

Combo Potential: This Mtg card offers stellar blend-ins with abilities centered around triggered effects of enchantments entering the battlefield or being returned to hand allowing for great strategic depth and potential combos.

Meta-Relevance: If the current game meta leans heavily towards aggressive or tempo decks, Conviction’s bounce-back feature and enhancement ability could prove invaluable. This card’s low-cost and repeatable use can offer a significant edge in paced matches, maximizing your defensive stand-points.

How to beat

Conviction is an impressive Defense card in Magic: The Gathering that compels you to adapt your game plan. It is equivalent to spells such as Shielded by Faith, which offers formidable defense but lacks the interactive aspect Conviction offers – the ability to bounce the enchantment back to hand. Herein lies Conviction’s unique charm and the challenge in beating it.

Anticipate Conviction’s potential return to the player’s hand by exploring options like Spell Pierce. A counter spell that costs a mere two mana, it can swiftly block Conviction from bouncing back. It is efficient and enriched by its instantaneous nature. In contrast, Conviction is an aura spell, thus manipulable by countermagic.

Disperse is another effective method to overcome Conviction. An instantaneous spell that returns a permanent to its owner’s hand, it disrupts their defensive set-up, leaving their creatures vulnerable for a potential strike.

Given these strategic points, countering Conviction lies in the successful management of instant spells and timing. It is indicative of the depth and intricacies within the Magic: The Gathering world. So, keep your instant spells handy and play wisely to beat Conviction in the game.

BurnMana Recommendations

Enhancing your deck with Conviction can be a game-changer, offering unique tactics through its boosting and bounce-back capabilities. This enchantment fits seamlessly into strategies that capitalize on adaptability and resilience, reflecting the true spirit of MTG gameplay. While it shines in specific mana compositions, its strategic applications are broad, from triggering abilities to supporting control playstyles. Keep an eye on the meta as Conviction might prove essential in facing tempo-based opponents. For those looking to refine their decks and explore enchantment synergies, Conviction could be your next key card. Cards like Conviction

Conviction is a card that brings a distinct utility to the world of MTG. It draws parallels to other aura cards like Hyena Umbra, which also enhances a creature’s power. Conviction, however, possesses an added flexibility, which allows it to be returned to the owner’s hand. This makes it reusable and ensures a strategic upper hand. Hyena Umbra does provide a defensive boost, but lacks Conviction’s recall ability.

Lunarch Mantle is another card worth considering. It also gives your creatures an increased power and the freedom of flight, similar to Conviction. Yet, Lunarch Mantle requires you to sacrifice a permanent for the evasion and doesn’t have the bounce back ability. However, Conviction’s capability of bolstering a creature’s power while also having the opportunity to be recalled, sets it apart.

In summary, Conviction holds substantial worth among MTG enchantment spells, not only because of its power augmentation potential but also due to its unique link to strategic return-to-hand flexibility. This combination of power and strategy makes it highly valuable in the game of Magic: The Gathering.

Rules and information

DateText
2018-12-07 Because damage remains marked on a creature until it’s removed as the turn ends, nonlethal damage dealt to the enchanted creature may become lethal if you return Conviction to its owner’s hand during that turn.
2018-12-07 Players don’t have priority to cast spells and activate abilities between combat damage being assigned and being dealt. This means that if you want to return Conviction to its owner’s hand before combat damage is dealt, you must do so before combat damage is assigned (and the creature will no longer get +1/+3).
