Card Pros

Card Advantage: Fighter Class excels at equipping your warriors for battle, ensuring that once you’ve secured your heroes on the board, they are optimally prepared to press the advantage. By drawing key equipment cards from your deck, you can maintain a powerful presence, turning the tide in your favor without depleting your hand.

Resource Acceleration: Elevating your resource game, Fighter Class allows you to reduce the cost of equipping your stalwart champions. This not only accelerates your ability to empower your creatures but also frees up mana, enabling you to further develop your board and strategy at a much quicker pace.

Instant Speed: Although Fighter Class itself doesn’t function at instant speed, it promotes a strategy that takes advantage of instant speed interactions. With reduced equipment costs and powerful equipped creatures, you can efficiently manage your resources to leverage spells at instant speed, keeping opponents on their toes and reacting swiftly to their moves.

Card Cons

Discard Requirement: While Fighter Class offers robust advantages, be mindful that activating its third level requires you to discard a card. This cost necessitates sacrificing part of your hand, potentially depleting valuable resources when you’re trying to maintain card advantage.

Specific Mana Cost: Fighter Class demands a precise combination of mana, utilizing one red and one white. This can be restrictive, tying the card to specific deck archetypes and hindering its inclusion in multicolor decks that may struggle with mana fixing.

Comparatively High Mana Cost: With an initial cost of two mana and additional mana required to unlock subsequent levels, Fighter Class can be a steep investment. For players seeking immediate board presence or faster tempo, there may be alternate cards with lower costs that deliver quicker utility or pressure on opponents.

Reasons to Include Fighter Class in Your Collection

Versatility: The Fighter Class card is a solid addition to a diverse range of decks, particularly those aligned with aggressive strategies. Equipping creatures at a reduced cost and searching for key equipment cards amplifies the strength and resilience of your creatures on the battlefield.

Combo Potential: With Fighter Class, you have the ability to seek out powerful equipment from your deck, setting up potent combos. It synergizes well with cards that have beneficial interactions when equipped or when you cast equipment spells, esculating the threat level to your opponents.

Meta-Relevance: Fighter Class adapts well to the shifting dynamics of the metagame, specially in formats where equipment can tip the scales. It enhances creature-based strategies, providing a tactical advantage against control and tempo decks that often dominate tournament play.

How to beat

Fighter Class, a noteworthy card in Magic: The Gathering, shines in decks that thrive on warrior synergy and equipment strategies. Unlike other cards that offer immediate impact, Fighter Class requires a thoughtful approach due to its level-up capabilities, which can gradually strengthen your opponent’s board presence. It’s incremental, providing tutoring for equipment, cost reduction, and folding in additional buffs for equipped creatures.

To effectively counter Fighter Class, consider proactive removal. Enchantment destruction spells like Disenchant or Nature’s Claim are efficient tools to dismantle your opponent’s setup before they reach critical mass. If direct removal isn’t in your hand, pressure the opponent’s life total quickly. Decks with a swift aggro component can frequently outpace the setup time required for Fighter Class to reach its full potential. Another tactic is to prioritize the control of key creatures, using removal or temporary exile effects to weaken the impact of the equipped warriors.

Overall, beating Fighter Class involves a mix of disrupting your opponent’s game plan and applying pressure to maintain the upper hand. Players who stay one step ahead of their foe’s progression stand the best chance of overcoming the strengths of Fighter Class in a match.

Cards like Fighter Class

Delving into the collection of role-enabling enchantments in Magic: The Gathering, Fighter Class is a unique enchantment among its peers. It shares the stage with cards like Cleric Class and Wizard Class, which also thrive by enhancing the capabilities of creatures that share their namesake class. Fighter Class offers a specific advantage in granting access to equipment and ramping up the power of equipped creatures. Unlike Cleric Class, which bolsters life and resilience, or Wizard Class, which accelerates card draw and spellcasting potential.

Another card worth noting is the Sigarda’s Aid, enabling a more instantaneous equipment setup. While Sigarda’s Aid offers faster equip actions, Fighter Class has the added benefit of tutoring an equipment card directly to your hand, thereby ensuring a more consistent setup. Also, Equipment enthusiasts might consider Open the Armory, which similarly tutors equipment or auras but lacks the ongoing boost to equipped warriors that Fighter Class provides.

To encapsulate, while each card shines in its strategy, Fighter Class finds its niche in decks focused on synergizing with equipment and supporting warrior-type creatures. Its tutor and cost-reduction abilities provide it with a singular position within the fighter-themed toolkit of Magic: The Gathering.

Rules and information

The reference guide for Magic: The Gathering Fighter Class card rulings provides official rulings, any errata issued, as well as a record of all the functional modifications that have occurred.

DateText
2021-07-23 Each Class has five abilities. The three in the major sections of its text box are class abilities. Class abilities can be static, activated, or triggered abilities. The other two are level abilities, one activated ability to advance the Class to level 2 and another to advance the Class to level 3.
2021-07-23 Each Class starts with only the first of three class abilities. As the first level ability resolves, the Class becomes level 2 and gains the second class ability. As the second level ability resolves, the Class becomes level 3 and gains the third class ability.
2021-07-23 For the last triggered ability, if the target creature is tapped or is affected by a spell or ability that says it can't block, then it doesn't block. If there's a cost associated with having that creature block, its controller isn't forced to pay that cost, so it doesn't have to block in that case either.
2021-07-23 Gaining a level is a normal activated ability. It uses the stack and can be responded to.
2021-07-23 Gaining a level won't remove abilities that a Class had at a previous level.
2021-07-23 If the last triggered ability triggers more than once in the same combat, a single creature may be required to block more than one creature. As long as it doesn't have an ability that would allow that, its controller choose which attacking creature it blocks.
2021-07-23 Some Class cards have an effect that increases when more are under your control. For example, if you have multiple Barbarian Class cards, you roll that many additional dice and ignore that many of the lowest rolls.
2021-07-23 The discount to equip abilities applies only to generic mana requirements. If you control multiple Fighter Classes that are level 2 or higher, equip abilities cost less for each one. This can't make an ability cost less than .
2021-07-23 You can multiclass or even control multiple Class enchantments of the same class. Each Class permanent tracks its own level separately.
2021-07-23 You can't activate the first level ability of a Class unless that Class is level 1. Similarly, you can't activate the second level ability of a Class unless that Class is level 2.
